Putting down roots in Palm Springs has been such a magical experience so far! It’s really felt like the city has welcomed me and Mind Body Badass with open arms. 🧘🏻‍♀️ I’ve already got a booked calendar with public and private classes throughout the Coachella valley.⁣
⁣
Everyone keeps asking me—why move from San Diego to the desert?? But firstly, I don’t really feel like I’ve left San Diego, it’s still our home base! I’m just teaching a bit less there☺️ but still offering PLENTY of awesome public and private yoga classes in SD at least once a month, along with my team of awesome MBB instructors.⁣

But there are lots of reasons I chose to move with my boyfriend Juan to the Palm Springs area: It’s always been my favorite city to escape to every few months for vacation, and I’ve dreamed of living here. I started noticing a huge growing potential, since tourism is thriving with bachelorette parties (one of MBB’s target markets) along with groups on vacation, and the area is known as a wellness destination—perfect for yoga! Plus I could feel my intuition telling me I needed a life shift. It always gets really loud when I need to make a big change, and it never steers me wrong, even when it feels like I’m maybe a little crazy.⁣
⁣
The people here are SO kind. We’re able to afford renting an actual house, with room for me to teach classes in my own space. The slower pace has helped me heal from the stressors of the past year. Roadrunners keep sprinting by to say hi—and they’re a sign of good luck. ✨⁣

Sending some of that luck your way, along with a reminder to always listen to your intuition! That little voice that repeats inside your head, that overwhelming feeling that you need a change, is always guiding you towards your best life and a deeper knowing of yourself. 🩷⁣

Who else loves Parighasana, aka Gate Pose? This juicy pose is great for opening up your side body, stretching the intercostal muscles between your ribs (which improves your breathing!), and helps you prep for standing poses based on the same shape like Triangle and Half Moon. It’s one of my favorites to do and teach, and I love that it’s accessible for anyone to do! 🧘🏻‍♀️⁣
⁣
To flow into Gate Pose:⁣
✨ Start kneeling and extend one leg straight out to the side.⁣
✨ Reach your arms out, then stretch toward your extended leg, letting your top arm reach overhead.⁣
✨ Keep your chest open and your breath expansive—it’s all about creating space!⁣
✨ Pro Tip: Use a towel or cushion under your supportive knee for extra comfort, or simply roll up your mat a few times for more padding.⁣
⁣
Gate Pose is awesome because it improves posture and counteracts the effects of sitting for extended periods of time. It’s also a chance to stretch your energy outward, breath deeper, and tap into a calm, balanced mindset. What’s not to love? 🩷
