Happy International Day of Yoga! 🧘🏻‍♀️ Happy International Day of Yoga! 🧘🏻‍♀️🌏 Today we honor a practice that originated over 5,000 years ago in India—a path of liberation, devotion, and self-discovery that continues to evolve and ripple across cultures.⁣ ⁣ It’s easy to forget, especially here in the West, that yoga isn’t just about movement. In fact, that’s only a small part of this practice. It’s about union: of body, breath, mind + spirit. Yoga is rooted in the knowing that we are one with each other and with all that is. It’s a practice of presence, compassion, and conscious action in the world.⁣ ⁣ These photos are from when I last taught yoga in San Diego’s Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. Outdoor yoga is my norm, but there’s something extra special about this setting. The @jfgmsandiego is so beautiful and tranquil—it’s an honor to share the practice in a space that’s so intentionally peaceful. 🌸 ⁣ ⁣ Enjoy some outdoor yoga this weekend and remember that yoga is a practice we carry with us all day, especially off the mat. The deepest Yoga lies in living more mindfully and lovingly, with the power to stand up for yourself and to face the challenges of life with more ease. It’s learning how to flow with the dance of living. ✨

Now that the Summer Solstice is officially here, we’re SO ready for more magic like this! It’s time for California’s dreamiest season.⁣ ⁣ Planning a bachelorette, birthday, or girls’ getaway? 🚨 BREAKING: The City of San Diego just appealed 🚨 BREAKING: The City of San Diego just appealed our 9th Circuit victory—the one that said teaching donation-based yoga in public parks is protected by the First Amendment.⁣ ⁣ The City is arguing that accepting any donation = running a business, and that that makes my yoga classes at Sunset Cliffs (and all donation yoga) “commercial activity” which can be banned. But here’s the truth: courts have already ruled that teaching yoga—even with a donation jar—is still protected free speech. So while we’re pretty confident the City’s appeal will be denied, it’s still important to note that their attack continues. And who is it serving, really? Definitely not the majority public who come to these gatherings for free to improve their mental and physical health and gain community. 🧘🏻‍♀️⁣ ⁣ This fight is bigger than yoga. It’s about who gets to gather in public, and what we’re allowed to share. Movement. Breath. Healing. These aren’t products—they’re human rights. The City of San Diego has lied countless times to the courts, claiming we could just get permits, while simultaneously refusing to offer permits for yoga at ANY shoreline park (and now claiming that permits are “just blocked for the summer” in an odd twist in their appeal, considering the evidence).⁣ ⁣ The City may have money and their “creative” lawyer. But we’ve got truth, community, and the Constitution on our side. And I’ll keep shouting it from the (cliff)tops: Community care is not a crime!⁣ ⁣ We’re not giving up—the future looks bright. Me and @namasteveyoga are holding strong in the lawsuit with our lawyer @animalawyer, and we’re going to make sure that yoga at the beach is here to stay.⁣ ⁣ 👇 What do you like most about yoga at Sunset Cliffs or any of the other shoreline parks of San Diego?
