How To Survive Moving To A New City » Infinite Embers blog

Mind Body Badass is a holistic guide to total mind-body wellness, exploring everything you actually need to know to be healthy, fit, and happy.

I’m Amy Baack, the creator of Mind Body Badass, and I’m a Meditation and Yoga teacher (with a decade of fitness training) and writer on a mission to help you, my dear badass, live your best possible life.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret:

The key to true wellness is to heal both your body AND your mind.

The two are so intimately connected. Your mental health impacts your physical health, and vice versa, even if you don’t realize it.

But we’ve been taught to disconnect the two. We’ve been taught to disconnect from ourselves entirely, and usually our only wakeup call is when something really hurts: either your body or your heart.

I’m here to help. This blog is a resource for all things wellness to help you heal and thrive and find unity in your mind and body again (P.S. yoga means “unity”). I bring my expertise as a trainer and meditation coach to the table, but I’m also a fellow student just like you. I’m constantly on the hunt for ways to improve, researching new tools and tricks to help us all elevate our lives that I share here.

Feeling good is completely within your control. It’s possible to get better. I found that out for myself when I had to recover from a lifetime of feeling like shit.

(Disclaimer: I def will use profanity occasionally, because I believe to really enjoy life you can’t take it too seriously!)

I was only 25 and had no energy, got sick all the time, and was generally miserable. I thought I was relatively healthy, but in truth I was eating crap, getting minimal results from my workouts, and ignoring all my body’s cries for help. It wasn’t until I woke up one day with a chronic neck injury that I started paying attention.

I began to pour tons of trust, energy, money, and time into the medical and wellness scene in an attempt to feel better… and nothing changed, even after seeing both modern doctors and natural healers.

So I made it my mission to figure out how to heal myself. I became a fitness and yoga instructor and grew obsessed with healing my numerous physical and mental illnesses.

I succeeded in feeling better. And you can, too!

I have 2 questions for you. Stop for a moment – really stop – and answer:

» Do you feel healthy?

» Are you happy?

Chances are, you answered no to one of them. But even more likely is that you answered no to both.

There is no separation between the health of your mind and the health your body.

The only way to heal one is to heal the other as well – and that also happens to be the secret to finally securing lifelong results, whatever your personal goal is.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You are the stressed the fuck out.
  • You feel sluggish and are constantly exhausted.
  • You’ve tried everything to heal your chronic injury—but nothing works.
  • You want to succeed but constantly put yourself down or feel like you just can’t win.
  • You know you deserve to be happy but can’t find a way out of feeling anxious or depressed.

I FEEL YOU. But you can feel better!

Your body whispers cues about what’s going on in your mind, and can also affect it, and vice versa. But we aren’t ever taught how to listen to those cues or how to heal ourselves—basically because in today’s world, health is a business, and everyone’s out to get rich.

The aim of this blog is to equip you with all the best tips and tools available so that you can heal yourself and thrive with the healthiest mind and body possible.

I look forward to joining you on your journey!

You’ve got this! And I’m here to help.

xo,

Amy
